BITTER GROUNDS – ‘Remnants’ EP Review

bitter-groundsIn the space of a couple of hours we received punk music to review from New York, Birmingham and this one from Utrecht in the Netherlands. Bitter Grounds are a new band with a strong pedigree emerging from a group called Beans.

‘Remnants’ is a four track EP which is released as a teaser for a forthcoming debut album. The first song ‘Radio Silence’ is our track of the week! It’s a fast paced punk anthem showcasing a band that really knows its stuff.

The next track ‘Halos’ is an outstanding reggae/ska/punk effort with dual vocals propelled by some top notch drum and bass before the guitarist shows that he can play with a startling solo. It’s almost 5 minutes long and it’s brilliant. I could have listened to this all day.

‘My Reaction’ returns to the faster paced punk treatment but continues with the dual vocals lamenting the human races “…need for self destruction” – The vocals are “gritty” and very effective.

The final track of the four, ‘Bad Plan’, allows the band to show us another side to their arsenal – some boot stomping ska – you can see that the band has experience and released four albums as Beans over 10 years ago and played hundreds of gigs.

They are finalizing the debut album and will be out on the road after that. This is one that you should check out as soon as possible. Get the EP here:  https://bittergrounds.bandcamp.com/releases
