GHOST OF THE AVALANCHE –  Obsessive Compulsive Gender Dysphoria

GHOST OF THE AVALANCHE –  Obsessive Compulsive Gender Dysphoria

ghost-of-the-avalancheDescribing their sound as “bass ‘n’ drum driven noise-punk”, Ghost Of The Avalanche have released their fourth EP Obsessive Compulsive Gender Dysphoria. The duo from the South West of the UK are pushing the boundaries of what two people can make with just a bass, drums and vocals; across five tracks.

The EP’s title is borne from the pair’s shared battles with anxiety, depression and Per-Hour’s recent transition to being gender fluid. The first track, Oblivion, is an incredible wall of noise with a distinct Rudimentary Peni feel although how two people can generate so much power beggar’s belief…WOW!

They Hate You Too kicks in with that fuzzed bass and hammering drums supporting screamed angst-ridden vocals. The song develops into a hook laden, melody infused rocker that pleasantly surprises as it is juxtaposed with the anger.

The duo showcases a knack for churning out a melody on White Noise with an almost radio-friendly song that is simply excellent! The penultimate track is Snake Charmer where Ghost Of The Avalanche channel The Chapman Family as they tell a story with a minimal musical background before a crescendo of power and noise blows your mind!

Despite the title, the closing track, Dytopia, bounces along with hooks and accessible melody…it really is very, very good!!! Super EP that you need to listen to and add to your collection asap!
