LESSER KNOWN CHARACTER – ‘Calamity’ EP Review

LESSER KNOWN CHARACTER – Calamity

lesser-known-characterHailing from the creative haven that is Bristol (UK), Lesser Known Character have been honing their craft for three years and recently released their EP, Calamity.

Opening with a melodic and sub-one minute, Intro, where a guitar lick builds and promises much, the band then launch into the melodic, powerful and accessible, Mark, Call, Repeat. It’s a super skate-punk effort that has serious hooks reminding me of Bad Religion or Pennywise.

Lesser Known Character certainly have a sense of humor demonstrated by their reach out to us stating that “The EP is now multi selling, as we’ve sold several copies” and “we’d love to sound like Propagandhi, but we’re not that good” J

The Fear Tree is the third of four tracks on the EP and is another fast-paced, melodic punk song that powers along with some stop/start intervals setting up each section…loved it.

The EP closes with the title track, Calamity, one that clocks in at almost four minutes and showcases some serious playing chops with some perfect drums, guitar licks, power-bass and great vocals. It’s a super track full of punk-rock power, great riffs and some tempo changes that make for a great listen…I was headbanging along as the folks at punkonline.co.uk raised their heads to ask “who is that?” – get this!
