ALL DEEP ENDS – ‘Secret War’ EP Review

ALL DEEP ENDS – Secret War

All Deep EndsHailing from Alabama, All Deep Ends released a six track EP, Secret War, in November. From the melodic acoustic guitar and vocal opening to Redemption Song the EP promises to deliver an authentic and deeply personal package. The song has some neat guitar work throughout and even includes some spoken word section.

On Jawbreaker, the vocals sound even more sorrowful supported by an even more stripped down acoustic guitar. The track is compelling especially at the half-way point as a feedback intro to the full on drums, bass and fuzzed-out guitar drive me to headbanging in a shoegaze type of way!

All Deep Ends return to the acoustic guitar and stripped down vocals on Take The Cake whereas First Day Of My Life introduces some echo effects on both electric guitar and vocal. The beat kicks in to add a dub/ambient feel to the song. The track builds to an explosive shoegaze extravaganza that I simply adored.

The penultimate track, Just Wanted To Say is an extremely pleasant folky/mournful song and is followed by My Brother Spoke To God where a sparse acoustic guitars softly strums before an almost whispered vocal creates an eerie atmosphere. The track fades out as it entered and ends a very good set of songs.
