BEACH RIOT Release Single ‘Slackers’

beachriotBeach Riot are a fuzzy post punk four-piece consisting of Rory O’Connor (guitar/vocals), Cami Menditeguy (guitar/vocals), Jim Faulkner (bass/vocals) and Jonny Ross (drums). With members split from Brighton and London the band bonded over a mutual love for Demob Happy and a desire to make music that “people can lose their shit to”.

The quartet’s DIY nature assorts as a distorted haze compiled with distorted hooks and distinctive raw energy that’s incredibly current. All of this attends to a current underground scene that is brimming with fuzzy pop. Taking influences from the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, Cable, Sleater-Kinney and Pavement, their sound is brash and untamed.

Their newest single ‘Slackers’ leaves the band stripped with nothing to hide but only their distinctive rawness. On the song’s inspiration, Beach Riot explain “Slackers is all about when you are young and start seeing someone, it gets heavy way too quickly, and you start to freak out.. half about them and half about you. It was also written on the fly whilst walking to a gig in like, 5 minutes…”. Melancholic power chords, dual boy/girl vocal harmonies, all combine together in a huge sound thats showered in grimacing lo-fi grit. With the release of ‘Slackers’, this kicks off a set of numerous live dates scattered across their two hometowns and a performance at LeeFest later this summer.
