BLOWFUSE – ‘Daily Ritual’ Album Review

BLOWFUSE – Daily Ritual

BlowfuseBlowfuse are one of Spain’s best known and most active punk rock bands. Based in Barcelona, the band is set to release their Daily Ritual Album on February 11th.

Influenced by 80’s and 90’s punk rock waves and the skateboard lifestyle, Blowfuse craft a unique sound that is all their own full of hooks and power with some sterling musicianship. The eleven-track album begins with Dreams and this one cascades out of the speakers with serious pace and intent as the band go all out, 300mph punk rock with elements of the Offspring and Bad Religion in evidence.

On Bad Thoughts the danceable rhythm, slightly off-kilter guitars, rumbling bass guitars set up a churning, head-banging, foot-stomping rocker that we just loved…think of the theme tune to Batman with punk rock chops and then the single, Angry John showcases some searing riffs, melodic chorus and hooks that just batter you into submission – great stuff!

Blowfuse maintain the momentum and, if anything, turn up the speed with the excellent Grand Golden Boy with another soaring chorus before Outta My Head opens with some reverb effect guitars, pounding beat and funky approach offering a slightly different take on the punk formula!

So Long My Friends returns to a seriously fast, tight punk rock approach whereas Sunny Daze takes a mid-paced route with huge riffs and soaring lead vocals creating a happy and positive atmosphere and then Change Your Mind just rocks with serious intent and it’s a crackerjack of a punk rock effort!

The chunky and churning A Thousand Miles again had me reminded of So. Cal punk rock with rhythmic riffs and up-front vocals leading to the penultimate effort Right Before Your Eyes where Blowfuse offer up some fast serrated riffs and build up to a big chorus full of melody.

This terrific album concludes with Hit The Ground with big group vocals, stalking riffs, big beats and a headbanging rhythm that had us all hooked from the beginning. Super ending!
