COCKWOMBLE – ‘All Of The Money! None Of The Style’ EP Review

COCKWOMBLE – All Of The Money! None Of The Style

CockwombleFirst things first, we like Cockwomble, we like them a lot! We reviewed their debut EP, Henchmen (read here), back in July and have been awaiting their follow up ever since. So, we were made up when their new EP, All Of The Money! None Of The Style, arrived in our inbox.

The EP opens with the title track with hints of T-Rex, The Fall and Idles as the band attack the rich people who have the money but no class. The ironic vocal delivery is enhanced and the recording more robust and fuller than their excellent debut.

The fast paced, helter-skelter garage punk of Want Stuff, Buy Stuff is enhanced with melodic vocals and a driving riff lick that East Bay Ray would be proud of. The anti-monarchy track, Henry XXXXXV is an ironic 1950s rock and roller with some simply brilliant and amusing lyrics. There is a vibe of the B-52’s in this track albeit a bit rawer, a bit more powerful.

The Jilted John meets the UK Subs Punk In A Dress is just great fun with bitingly sarcastic lyrics, dripping melodies and sharp riffs on top of a solid rhythm section. It closes out the EP with style

The three track EP is available for your listening pleasure at Spotify and you won’t be disappointed as these folks are the real deal.
