CONCRETE ELITE – ‘Iron Rose’ Album Review

concrete-eilteConcrete Elite are heavy, very heavy! Self-proclaimed as “The bulldozer from Texas” the band are about to release their debut album on June 1st.  Iron Rose is a nine track  pile-driver of an album.

Opening with Stronger Than Ever Before where some early feedback and sporadic drums evolve into a churning powerhouse track dominated by some of most throat-defying vocals ever heard, Concrete Elite manage to blend an Oi! approach with the likes of Napalm Death and Extreme Noise Terror style vocals. It has the desired effect of creating something unique and the band deserve credit for that!

She’s A Hammer continues the momentum with chunky power riffs and those signature hardcore vocals and a group vocal chorus. On Death Drums, Concrete Elite sound a little like Rudimentary Peni with a churning song slightly slower in pace but full of gut-punching power.

They up the pace again with Men At Peace a track that thunders along with some tight rhythm interludes and a great chorus that will have fans screaming the words. Last Of The Gang To Die has a street punk/Oi feel with some tight melody and some neat guitar. The title track Iron Rose opens with some edgy guitar and then simply takes off into a superb track full of energy and it leads nicely into No Filth All Fury a rollicking roller-coaster of punk rock action.

The penultimate track, Arise is one of the strongest of the nine with a call to action. Ending with TryHard, Concrete Elite wrap up this amazing Oi!/Hardcore crossover album with aplomb. Full of terrace chants, angry lyrics and power a plenty, the album is a must have addition to your collection…great stuff!
