DEAD LETTER BOX – ‘DLB 4’ Review

DEAD LETTER BOX – DLB 4

Dead Letter BoxDead Letter Box is a four-piece post-punk/post-hardcore band from Mechelen (Belgium). They just sent through their new three-track EP and it’s a corker.

Opening with a rocking riff that meets a pummelling drum, screaming licks and gravel throat vocals, Vote For Me will have you head banging no time as it did the entire punkonline.co.uk office. This one just nails it with a solid bass solo adding to energy and aggression.

On Game Over the band show another side to their personality with some math-punk precision and melodic guitar led post-hardcore expertise. The vocals remain insistent and powerful but the music more complex, dominated by cascading guitar licks and intricate beats…however, what is constant is the urgency and power that these folks conjure up!

The solid EP concludes with The Lone Wolf which clocks in at over four minutes and Dead Letter Box use the space to explore melodic guitar licks, mid-paced drum bats and strong bass lines and slowly build with some serrated riffs, soaring vocals intricate bass and lead guitar interplay that bring this one to a very satisfying conclusion indeed.
