DORKATRON – ‘The Extra Mile’ EP Review

DORKATRON – The Extra Mile

DorkatronSelf described as “Four nerds form Klagenfurt, Austria” – Dorkatron have released their six-track EP, The Extra Mile.

The band are pop-punk in approach and drip with hooks and melodies as displayed on the opening track, Is She Really Going Out Tonight that channels The Plimsouls with harmonious vocals and fast paced beats.

Chemical Reaction is like listening to Alvin Stardust at 100mph with the vocals prominent, guitars churning out the riffs and the rhythm section driving things along nicely. The third of the six tracks, Lunch Money has a more Ramones meets Weezer sound and it rocks along with a rollicking chant along chorus.

The tracks are short, well played and produced with foot tapping, head nodding inducing beats as shown on Luise with its rock n rolling bass guitar and group vocals channeling The Ramones. The penultimate song, Books Not Bombs is sixty-six seconds of fast paced serrated guitars, pounding beat, booming bass and more aggressive vocals – good stuff!

The EP closes out with the title track The Extra Mile where the melodies come thick and fast with intertwining vocal harmonies and a super surf guitar supported chorus.

If you like you punk full of the sounds of summer, packed with chunky riffs and pacey beats, check these folks out – you’ll love them!
