Following a premiere on Radio X last night alongside a special live session for John Kennedy’s Xposure show, Nottingham trio Kagoule are pleased to reveal their new single ‘It’s Not My Day’ today, which is out now on all good digital service providers.

The track is the latest single from forthcoming LP, Strange Entertainment, set for release on 26th October 2018 on Alcopop! Records. The album is available to preorder now in various bundles and formats including limited orange vinyl and a signed print.

Front man Cai Burns said: “I wrote the lyrics in December 2016. This was at the end of a long and busy year touring our debut record Urth. I hadn’t started writing the second album at this point and we had only released a handful of stand alone singles over the course of the year. It was after writing this song that I had the—I guess I’ll call it ‘vision’—of a new album.

“’It’s Not My Day’ was the beginning of ‘Strange Entertainment’. It’s hard to remember the exact moments that inspired a song but I think this one is about keeping it together in front of people or situations that intimidate you. There were lots of changes happening at that time and I needed to remind myself to face up to them.”

The three-piece recently announced a run of headline UK tour dates throughout October and November of this year in support of the new record, with tickets on sale now (see below for full dates).

Fresh from a UK tour with Drenge, a summer of festival appearances, and a personal invitation from The Cure’s Robert Smith to appear at Meltdown Festival, the band return proper with their new album later this year alongside the Strange Entertainment Tour with a further planned Euro sojourn.

Their new record sees them finally spinning together their disparate influences into a body of work that attempts to capture the sum of their parts, and is very much a statement of where Kagoule are pleased to find themselves artistically now that they’re at the helm of their own destiny.
