KILL THE WITNESS – ‘Poison’ EP Review

Kill the WitnessLondon band, Kill The Witness who describes themselves as “Bright Eyes meets Blink 182 with a British accent” have just released their 4-track EP Poison.

Opening with the truly excellent title track, Poison, the boys manage to combine folk punk with skate punk and some terrific lyrics. There is even a middle eight that contains a keyboard/toy piano section. Great track full of rocking melody and hooks and booming bass guitar to boot..

The next track, Butterfly Kiss, romps along with a foot-stomping beat and drips with melody. It’s a little Gaslight Anthem, a little early Elvis Costello and a little Thin Lizzy and it is good!

The penultimate effort is just 90 seconds in length and is manically fast punk rock with a skiffle beat and sections that just feature vocals. The song has a Frank Turner vibe with strong lyrics and that folk-punk approach.

The EP closes with Diary, and it is another strong melodic punk rocker with soaring keyboards and a tight, fast-paced rhythm section. The lyrics are full of longing and angst and the overall package is very pleasing indeed.
