NO LIARS – ‘The Cause And The Cure’ Album Review

NO LIARS – The Cause And The Cure

No LiarsThe Cause & The Cure is the new album from No Liars. The post punk/post hardcore band hail from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada and this eleven-track album opens with the expansive Freedom Regime where angry vocals are driven on by a prominent guitar lick.

On Animal, the guitar is dirtier and more bluesy as the rock solid rhythm section powers the track forward with tempo changes, high pitched melodies and is followed by The Unheard where the band offer another version of the post-hardcore sound with a catchier approach.

Guilt Trip is a little slower and ballad like in approach with a dominant vocal full of longing whilst The Displaced is punkier in style, political in lyrics and as angry as hell! No Liars bring the head-banging wall of sound to This Hell I Call Home and vary things with the math-punk approach on Consumed. The sheer power of Faceless works so well as the vocals add to the angry atmosphere and on Justified Sacrifice, the momentum continues as the band go full on post-hardcore/skate punk!

The second to last song, Societies Fall dials up the hardcore vibe and the album concludes with the title track, The Cause And The Cure with a plaintive vocal and slow ballad vibe that climbs and falls throughout.
