ONE FLEW WEST – ‘Trial And Error’ EP Review

ONE FLEW WEST – Trial And Error

One Flew WestHook-heavy, tongue in cheek and expertly catchy new EP from the Denver rockers, One Flew West who take influence from across indie and punk spectrums to deliver a standout sophomore release.

The EP opens with Trial And Error and the title track drips with irony, melody and hooks. The band deliver a radio ready, pop-punk sound with the classic line “…and I just wanna say ‘fuck you’ in a million different ways…” It’s a stunning indie pop/punk effort that is attracting attention across the nation.

The band keeping landing the left and right hooks with What Do I know where the music bounces along with a spring in it’s step whilst the vocals and lyrics are full of angst. The Best Worst Thing maintains the accessibility of the sound whilst slowing things down to power ballad status.

The penultimate track of the five, Staying In, is a stomp your feet, clap your hands, bluesy rocker with some signature guitar work. The closer, Out Of Time begins with some mellow acoustic guitar and plaintive softly delivered vocals. It develops into a soaring song and finishes off the package nicely.

One Flew West secured CBS Denver’s Band To Watch last year and this EP shows why. If you like your punk rock a little more rock and pop than punk, these folks are for you.
