PASTORATET – ‘THLM’ EP Review

PASTORATET – THLM

PastoratetPastoratet are from Tidaholm/Skövde, Sweden and have been together as a band since 2009, but all of the members have been playing punk since the early 90´s. With members from the old skate punk band New Deal, ska punks The Liptones and punk bands Snutjävel and Vänsternäven, Pastoratet have made their own sound and name in Sweden.

The opening track, Aldrig Mer begins with some mellow, softly strummed guitar before a chunky, slow riff makes you sit up and take notice but that’s just the preview – the song explodes into an “Antisect meets Green Day” piledriver of a punk rock song. With melody, hooks, power and pace, Pastoratet just nail it…Wow!

Next up is Mitt Sa Kallede Liv, and this one is dominated by a superb guitar lick, manic skate-punk drumbeat and catchy vocals – sort of Bad Religion with an Oi! vibe. The entire punkonline.co.uk team walks over as Tack & Hej opens with a harder vocal edge and a more aggressive approach. The hooks continue and the blended punk-hardcore-skate sound creates something quite spectacular!

The EP closes with Radhusrebell and the guitar is prominent again as are the excellent drums. The vocals are delivered fast and the riffs punch to the gut. The pace halts for a few moments to support a soaring vocal chorus…simply brilliant punk rock!

The new EP THLM by Pastoratet was released on May 11th and is an absolute cracker.  – Get it here: http://smarturl.it/thlm
