REIN Releases Video ‘Nasty Woman’ Poem

reinSweden’s newcomer REIN releases the lyrical video for Nasty Woman, the hard-hitting visceral feminist diatribe which samples Nina Mariah Donovan’s ‘Nasty Woman’ poem (as read by Ashely Judd at Washington’s Woman’s March) set to hard-hitting techno.

Nasty Woman is taken from REIN’s forthcoming FREEDOOM EP out 9 June on Playground Music. REIN has created a series of visual statements to accompany each EP track, with Nasty Woman following the videos for (‘You Call It’) Democracy, C.A.P.I.T.A.L.I.S.M and Missfit. All videos can be viewed via REIN’s YouTube channel.

REIN (aka Sweden’s Joanna Reinikainen) is like the bastard child of M.I.A and Peaches. She crosses punk’s attitude and unbridled visceral energy with an ultra-hard club sound and an unapologetic political agenda covering exclusion, feminism, anti-capitalism and anti-racism.

In only 16 months, following the release of her eponymous debut EP (2016,Playground Music), REIN has established herself as Sweden’s hottest new talent, playing Sweden’s biggest festivals (including Emmaboda, Storsjöyran, Musikens Makt, Umeå Open), embarking on a huge club circuit tour and performing live on Sweden’s coolest national radio shows. Her singles I Don’t Get Anything But Shit From You and Missfit (latter taken from FREEDOOM EP) were on heavy rotation on national radio and she was nominated as ‘Best Newcomer 2016’ by Swedish National Radio Music Awards (P3 Guld) and by one of Sweden’s biggest music monthly magazines, Gaffa Awards – as well as ‘Dance Music Artist of the Year’, ‘Breakthrough of the Year’ and ‘Live Artist of The Year’. With Dagen Nyheter (Sweden’s biggest morning daily newspaper) describing REIN as “one of the year’s most exciting newcomers.”
