THE LEE HARVEYS –  Resistance is not Terrorism

Lee HarveysResistance is not Terrorism is the fourth album from The Lee Harveys, and is the first to appear on vinyl. In reality this is a six-track EP or mini album, however the vinyl edition has the addition of eight B Side tracks taken from the bands previous albums, remastered for vinyl and voted for on social media. The CD version and download versions feature the six new tracks.

Opening with Words Are Weapons the band support a melodic vocal with a pummelling beat, roiling bass line and rolling guitar licks and deliver a strong set of lyrics to drive home a track heavy with hooks and one that had us begging for more. The power chords that introduce New York set up a power punk track reminding me of a cross between the Damned and Stiff Little Fingers with melody and power in equal measure and then Bloody War enters to a rhythmic approach that just jumps out and takes you by the throat with a melodic chorus to boot.

The Lee Harveys official alternative to the Irish Eurovision Song Contest entry, One Way In is a track written about the atrocities that occur in Palestine on a daily basis. Rather than being an anti-Israeli track, it’s more of a pro-Palestinian and Anti-War sentiment and it works with energy, emotion and authenticity to burn.

The penultimate song of the six is the pacey Sonic Boom where the band channel some garage punk vibes to produce a rocking and rolling punk rock fest before Neon Angel has a more Undertones feel with some rollicking riffs, hugely melodic vocals and it all produces a pretty darn good pop/punk package indeed!!!

The album comes in various packages including a highly limited-edition pack featuring a four-page sleeve.
