WEEKEND RECOVERY – ‘In The Mourning’ EP Review

Weekend RecoveryWeekend Recovery are a garage punk band from Leeds, UK. They’ve just released their EP In The Mourning (27 September 2018). The band have been scoring some solid gigs including the Rebellion stage and this EP opens with the dirtiest riff heard this side of Lemmy’s passing on Bite Your Tongue where the insistent and incessant beat supports some great guitars and super female lead vocals.

The title track, In The Mourning is a relentless mover that will have you spinning around in abandonment and glee – a little Siouxsie, a little Elastica, a little Sisters of Mercy, we were leaping around the confines of the office like teenagers – great stuff!!!

Next up is On My Knees where the band explore a Pixies like restraint on the verses whilst the choruses explode with power. The beat and angular guitars drive the track along with a danceable tempo and the lead female vocals are simply epic in scope and style.

The  EP closes with I’m Not That Girl where lead singer Lorin shows a country like tinge to her voice as the band lay down a mid-paced powerful foundation – it is not often that we are left speechless here at towers but Weekend Recovery had us gasping for more and searching for superlatives – trust us, this is simply brilliant – get it, get them, see them, support them!!!
