WESTBOUND SIGN – Love Songs For The Queers

Westbound SignWestbound Sign recently released their debut EP, Love Songs for the Queers for free on Bandcamp! (See Link Below). The band hail from Lawrence, KS and cite influences such as Screeching Weasel, The Queers, Green Day and Teenage Bottlerocket.

The five-track EP opens with the chunky and churning, You with huge hooks, sugary melodies and punk/glam-rock vibes blending The Ramones with T-Rex and Iggy & The Stooges…the entire office was up and moshing to this one! The trio up the pace on Rotting but maintain the melodies, huge riffs and garage punk/horror punk vibes.

On the almost four-minute in length, Calypso, Westbound Sign put the pedal to the metal and significantly increase the pace with a soaring guitar lick, rocking and rolling beat like The Rubettes met the Sex Pistols on a dark night and with Hate & Equality the band sound a little Toy Dolls as the lyrics are barked out at pace and the drums manic as are the guitars leaving us breathless! At the half-way point the song breaks for a guitar/vocal middle eight before exploding to a raging crescendo of an ending!

The EP concludes with Saccharine where the band flatter to deceive with a stuttering start and then they let loose to see us out with another fast, melodic pop-punk extravaganza that Green Day would be proud of.
